After over 25 years on Long Island, I relocated to Vermont in 2016. It is a magical place. My studio is a wonderful 875-square-foot post and beam facility that sits in the forest on my property in Chester, Vermont. This is the workshop I’ve always wanted.
I have a wide range of unique and interesting tools and fixtures for guitar building and repair, and it is a very special place to visit! I’ve worked very hard through the years to make my shop one of the most well-equipped independent guitar building and repair shops there is.
Extensive work was done to make the climate and humidity control perfect. Closed-cell foam was sprayed into the ceiling and under the floor joists, and the entire building was wrapped in rigid insulation with a vapor barrier under the siding. New drywall and 5,000 kelvin LED lighting was installed. The shop is fully insured, and has an active monitored security system with a highly secure vault for storing customers’ instruments.
The shop also features a spray booth with a vented wall for clean air intake, and a filtered exhaust. I spray traditional and ultraviolet finishes, as well as performing hand-applied finishes.
In addition to customers being able to see work in progress of guitars being built and repaired, I offer coffee, tea, espresso and cappuccino to visitors. There is also a restroom for customers. You may also take advantage of the wonderful forest on my property where you might see turkey, deer, moose, and other critters.
