Gibson Guitar Repair and Vintage Gibson Restoration

S. B. MacDonald Custom Instruments has been a factory-authorized repair and warranty center for Gibson musical Instruments for over 25 years. I moved my guitar building and repair business to from New York to Chester, Vermont in 2017. The new workshop is the studio of my dreams and is climate-controlled to match factory temperature and humidity levels.

In addition to working on modern Gibson guitars, I repair and restore new and vintage gibson guitars, mandolins, and banjos. I have also restored several vintage Gibson Harp guitars, including one owned by Mae West.

I perform even type of guitar repair for Gibson guitars including neck resets, bridge re-glues, fretwork, nuts and saddles, fret work, cracks, pick guard replacement, electronics and much more. Gibson are famous for their fragile headstocks, and I have repaired hundreds of Les Pauls, SGs, and acoustic Gibson headstocks when they have broken. My technique is elegant and non-invasive, leaving the instrument original after the repair is complete. Please explore the blog to see articles on such Gibson headstock repairs. I also make exact reproduction of vintage Gibson guitar bridges when the originals are either lost or too damaged to repair, using the correct original wood species.

Sending an instrument to be repaired is safe, and a great way to get it done correctly. I can coach you how to ship it to me safely.
